Solar Powered Camera Question

The solar panel is a 6 volt. Should I hook up the leads from the solar panel to one of the two batteries or should I hook the red lead to one battery and the black lead to the other battery?

I would:

1) add a regulator (a simple linear one would work if it's a small panel)
2) connect both batteries in parallel
3) connect the leads from the solar panel to the paralleled batteries

4 C batteries = 6 volts

So if the batteries are 6 volts each then the + clip of the camera goes to the + terminal of one and the - clip goes to the - terminal of the same battery. The second battery can then be added in parallel if you want more run time.

I don't know what voltage the panel is so can't help you there.

Alkaline batteries will eventually leak if left in place for a long time.

to be sure you dont' fry your camera you need to post pictuer of everything. we need to know a lot more specifications, solar panel specs, battery specs, etc.

Hi all,

I have a solar panel that has a red and black lead coming from it, both have alligator clips on the ends.

This goes to a bank of two batteries. One of my questions is do the red and black leads from the solar cell go on the same battery or does a red lead go to one battery and the black lead to the other?

Also, the camera can be powered by 4C batteries which I left in the camera. Will this cause any damage or can I just let them in the camera?

I'm definately a newbie to solar and need help.
