Many smart phones, need to see a "smart charger" to talk to, before they can charge, I have a automobile jump start power pack with a usb port on it, and my phone won't recognize it, but if I plug in it's smart car charge cord, it's fine.

Or the panel you are using, does not have full sun, or is not power compatible. What's the panel/charger you are using?

I have both a blackberry and Iphone. I've noticed that these phones recognize the incoming voltage and current. For warranty reasons with Iphones the phone will not accept the charge if it is under or over desired specs. These phones, particularly Iphone are meant to have a 2 year minimum life expectancy.

Make sure when you buy a charger for your phone that it has the desired specs that the phone demands.
      For the Iphone it down converts 120V- 50~60Hz .15amps = 18 wh, to DC 5V - 1amps = 5wh
      For the BlackBerry it down converts 120V- 50~60Hz .20amps 24wh , to DC 5v- .75amps = 3.75wh

          what can i do ?

          Solar panel: 0.7W only 140 mA (0.14A) , to fill a 2600mA battery.
          .14 x 5 hours sun = .7 amp hr stored with 100% efficency. (Right...)

Leave the gadget in the sun ALL the time, it has a very small (worthless) panel on it, and that will take 4 days to charge the internal battery. Then you can charge your device from the charged battery.

Get four of them, and rotate amonst them to recharge daily.
