180 watt, 24% eff. folding solar panel for $46 delivered ?

    From China.

A friend said he's getting one delivered for around 25 cents per watt.
Whoa I says. What's the catch? Sounds too good.
He doesn't know but wants to find out.
This is the outfit below that is behind the deal (supposedly).

    A Foldable version. 11.464 Pounds. 44 X 33 inches Open.
    Built to charge consumer electronics.
He says they take their sweet time getting it to you.

Some are quick. I just got some printing done in China and they had it ready
in 3 hours and shipped out that day. Didn't take that long to get here.
I said whoa - these badboys are not playing.
The American Broker and his help also made a quick buck.
Everybody got over. I tried to not save the money - but I can't

I know, solar panel records are set almost everyday these days, it seems. One reason solar power costs have already dropped over 20% this year. But who doesn't love a "new solar panel record set" story?

That would be the first warning sign. You don't need 180 watts to charge 'consumer electronics.' Second warning sign is that 24% efficient spec.

Third warning sign is the price. The cheapest factories today spend $0.50/W to manufacture solar panels, so this is well below manufacturing cost.

The author of the article, Zachary Shahan writes all sorts of silly posts - he has no idea of what he chatters. Boeing has produced panels using 40%+ efficient cells for years.

His statement, "I’m sure we’ll continue to see such records set in the coming years (if not months)." just goes to show the level of his knowledge - the guy has been posting tripe for years now.

Maybe you should send some of that ire in the direction of Guinness, which said it was a record.

Or maybe it's using too-strict of a definition for "commercially available." Boeing makes specialty PV for the space market, and it's pretty hard to actually buy those panels (if you're not a government agency or Elon Musk) even if you want to spend the money.

Why? When I have Zachary to aim it at - he and a few others were why I quit reading the site routinely.

Yes they are even using Copper!

I looked the Listing up on ebay. It Looks great since they knocked it off
of a bigtime ebay player selling Sun Power.

The real price is $780.00 but the cheap price people
are still taking money in at $46.50. It's Listed twice.
