Can an ’intelligent’ charger equalize parallell connected batteries? Or should you disconnect them and charge separately? I have off grid system with 4x135Ah batteries that seem to be losing capacity so i thought of purchasing a charger to use with generator.

My outback charge-controller has a program for 'equalizing'. But it has never been able to complete an equalize charge.
The battery bank must first reach a State of Charge of 100%, then the equalize charge would need to have power for 30 hours to do the charge. But in my region we only get sunlight in 5 hour increments.

Sounds like there is need for charging via generator. I maybe by one and haule the batteries to town for charging before spring. Never done equalizing ( not knowingly anyway). Before my batteries lasted 8-10 years but now they are only 4 years old and started problems last autumn.Comment
