I have to tie four 12v panels 2s2p to give me 24v system. Was told I need to go to 8 awg after the “Y” connection but wires on panels are 10 awg ! How can I go to 8 awg?

Are you familiar with 'split bolt wire connectors'?

make sure that all exposed bare wire is coated with 'No-Ox' BEFORE you fit the clamp on. Every piece of metal needs to have No-Ox on it before they get mashed together.

If you think it through well enough. You could place each splice inside a section of 2" PVC pipe shot full of silicon sealant from both ends.
It makes inspection 10 years later difficult, but if your primary concern is about being exposed, ...

I was told by Victron tech that it could use 10 awg wire so it’s good to use the mc4 connectors I have.Comment
