    Rewiring existing solar panel strings

    Hi everyone,
I'm moving my existing panels further back because they now spend most of the day under shade from a tree.
There are twelve 190w 24v panels connected to a flexmax 80. Currently they are connected in 6 strings of 2. I was wondering if I could or should rewire them to 3 strings of 4. Not sure if by changing the configuration I will get any benefits of of it or if I should leave it the way it was installed.
    Cheers and thanks!

The key consideration is that the Flexmax has a max input voltage of 150V. You panel's worst case voltage is about 40V so strings of 4 is too much. Could do 4 strings of 3 though. Might be a little more efficient the lower the voltage is as the Flexmax will have less work to do but the wire size coming from the array would have to be larger - which it already should be although it may need to be longer if you are moving the array....
