I am trying to get an outbuilding set up this spring. Okay to be more truthful I tried to get it set up last winter but I am behind schedule. It is a simple 4 12 volt lead acid battery for 48v system. I was looking over the owner's manual for the Outback and there are so many options! Does anyone know if I can plug and play with the factory settings? I can get the tech specs on the batteries if needed, I am farming full time and trying to stick this system up to boot. Spring sees me with not much time to play around with everything.
Default settings okay on an Outback Flexmax 80?

You will need the specs on the batteries. I don't have a Flexmax but I have another Outback product and the terminology is similar. Are you using a Mate or the screen on the Flexmax to set the parameters?9 kW solar, 42kWh LFP storage. EV owner since 2012 -
I didn't get the mate. I'll be using the screen on the Flexmax to do any adjusting. I will get the battery specs and post tomorrow. Thank you for your time.Comment

Because the owner's manual is 112 pages long and I am trying to get rye harvested and I have never set up a solar unit before. I am working 7 days a week and was hoping someone with experience could help, I am getting little enough sleep as it is.Comment

OK my bad. Look at page 1 of the battery specifications you had time to look up on line and post here for us. About 1/3 down is charging Instructions.
Bulk = Absorb = 59.28 volts
Float = 54.00 volts
Equalize = 64.8 Volts until Specific Gravity stabilizes and quit rising after about 24 hours.
But here is the deal. Your Controller factory settings may also work. Ironic? Sort of because most consumers do not understand batteries what the instructions mean. The manufacture is telling you what voltage is correct to maintain a Specific Gravity under ideal laboratory conditions. Guess what? You do not have ideal laboratory conditions.You have something else to work with.
Keyword is Specific Gravity. That means you adjust your Voltage accordingly to maintain a Specific Gravity at 100% State of Charge. If SP is to high, lower the voltage and vice versa. Don't have a Battery Hydrometer? Use the battery manufactures best guesstimate and take your chances.Last edited by Sunking; 05-25-2020, 01:27 PM.MSEE, PEComment
