Hello all,
I am new to the forum, so I apologize if there is a similar thread somewhere that I did not find in my search.
I bought a 70 acre property in Northern Ontario where I have built a cabin. There is no grid access so I am powering the building with Solar/ generator combo. I purchased a 5kw system from a supplier in China. It consists of 14 - 48 v, 360w poly panels, 1 - 48v 5kw Inverter/ charger, 1 - MPPT intelligent charge controller, a PV- combiner box, and 4 - 12v/ 250 Amp Hr batteries. The panels are installed 2 panels in series 7 sets in parallel into the combiner box. The combiner box is wired to the Charge controller where it is reading 90v input from solar but 0 amps and 0 watts charging. Aside from the panels not charging the batteries the system is working great. I have a generator with a propane conversion kit running off of a 1500L propane tank. The auto start on the generator is wired to the batteries so when the voltage drops to 46.8 v the generator automatically starts and the system then runs off of the generator power with any excess power being put back into the batteries through the inverter/ charger.
My question is can anyone help me trouble shoot why the Charge controller is reading 90v but not charging the batteries at all?
