Just wondered about the technicality of this. If my small backup system at my house should have a common ground, does this make it grid-tied when it's connected to the home's ground?
My system is a small 1000W PV array with 24V 100Ah battery and 1200W inverter (no power to be run through the house system and inverter never to be run at full capacity - probably around 400W general) but the importance of grounding hasn't escaped me. I live in a tropical climate and we do get thunderstorms. I'm going to get a professional to install it because I do value safety above all else - but the question of grounding did pique my curiosity.
