Is it safe to run 2 charge controllers to one battery bank? my battery bank is 24vdc.

Yes. How you will do it with wind and solar will depend on the style of controller your wind genny requires

I added a second solar panel to my system, and have the wind turbine installed, the wires are inside, I just need to connect it to the battery bank. Im waiting for the wind to kick up to give me some kind of output so I can see what the voltage is. The controller says 12/24 volt but that doesn't make sense to me. Im also waiting for some sun, its very overcast here now, but im still getting 3 amps. Much more than before I added the second panel.Comment

You need a controller that is designed for wind. Are you trying to connect the wind generator to a conventional solar controller??2.2kw Suntech mono, Classic 200, NEW Trace SW4024Comment

So I got it hooked up, I *guess* its charging the battery, theres no LCD screen on the controller to tell, ill have to get a multimeter on it. Good thing too, because there is no sun today but lots of wind.
I was told if the batteries are charged and theres no load on the turbine it can overheat and fail. true?

This load is to prevent that from happening, and to allow you to direct energy to heat water, or to run other appliances, that would otherwise be wasted.Last edited by ILFE; 01-31-2018, 01:14 PM.PaulComment

And I added a second panel. While not exactly like to old one, its similar. slightly less OCV and slightly less watts. I hooked them up in series, and I am getting MUCH less amps. on a typical sunny day like today I might get 10-12 amps, now im getting 3-4.Last edited by Billy_d; 02-02-2018, 10:36 AM.Comment

Series - Solar panels of exact or similar current should be wired together in series.
Parallel - Solar panels of exact or similar voltage should be wired together in parallel.
IIRC, I think the magic number is 10%?PaulComment

I think im close to the 10%, maybe I should separate them and run 2 controllersComment

If you correctly series connected the two panels and are getting a drop in amperage then the second panel is either bad or actually putting out 3 - 4 amps. Have you tested this panel by itself?2.2kw Suntech mono, Classic 200, NEW Trace SW4024Comment
