What are the thoughts on dc to dc converters

I've used them and loved them, had a 48V battery bank that had to drive a bunch of 12V loads, and built up a dozen 300w converters for the Garden and grotto of manifest destiny. (a burning man art piece) about halfway down the page, is a shot of 5 PCB's w/heatsinks on a plywood wall.

The LED drivers needed good clean 12V, and were burning out by the dozens, running off of 120VAC wall warts, this solved the power problem. The trailer went on to be used in many locations and also to power the artists off grid house. grotto of manifest destiny power C.jpg

I will have to check my cc I think there is a setting in there that you can adjust the output voltage just not sure how low it would go on a 24v setup that way I could use the cc to just run the inside light the can get everything else 24vComment

Hi, I'm new at this and need some advice. I have 12 - 320 watt, 37.8 volt, 8.52 amp solar panels, 1 - 24 volt 1379 amp @ 20 hr. (its made up of 12- 2 volt cells), 2 - midnite classic 150 mppt charge controllers. The solar panels will be approx. 15'-20' from the charge controllers. My question is which is the best way to configure the panels, 2 strings of 6 in parallel, which would be 37.8v at 51.12 amps, with each string having its own charge controller, or, 2 panels wired in series with one string of 6- 2 panel series wired in parallel, which would be 75.6volts and 51.12 amps going to one controller. This system will run 2 - 24 volt, 13.5 amp motors on two piston pumps to water 280 head of cattle, the wells are approx. 20' deep. Each pump will run about 5 hours a day. Will there be enough battery to run an inverter to power 11 - 9 watt led lights in the calving barns? If there is, what size inverter can this system handle and what type and make would be recommended, I only would need 110v. Thanks, DaveComment
