    PV's wired in strings of 2

    If I have 4-250w PV's w/37 Voc each. And I connect them all in series, that makes 1-250w panel producing 148v??? Which means total of 148v with the MAX watts produced in 1-hr would be around 200watts real world ????

    This is the real question....Would it be better to connect 2 of the 250w 37Voc in series AND connect the other 2-250w panels in series making "2" separate sets of 250watt PV's. Each set producing 74v & 250w AND THEN connect both sets in parallel to produce a single 500w per hr and148v panel respectively??? Or am I thinking about this all wrong?

    By the way my CC is rated 150v max input.

    You have 1000 watts any way you slice it. The only thing that remains unchanged when you series wire your panels is the amp output. Voltage adds and watt output adds. Voc. is open circuit voltage. You will get watts from Vmp,x Imp. actual maximum power under load.

      As I am all new to this and believe me, I have spent many hours reading and it seems the deeper and deeper I get into this the less I understand. That being said, with the 4 panels as mentioned above coupled to a CC rated at 40amp And 150v going into a 510AH 24v battery bank. With a total watt day of 2100w. What would be the most efficient wiring of the 4 pannels ?
      And this really puzzles me, if I use 135-150 watts per hr.X12-15 hrs per day.how would you wire up this system? And is this correct, 1-250 w panel makes 8-9 amps per hr on a really clear day? Do I go for max amps or less amps and more wattage or the max voltage? I figure this is a pretty stupid question to someone who is an expert at this. So please bare with me please, I'm asking questions to learn.

        Stop looking at what each panel can do at look at it as a system.

        You have 1000 watts of panels being used to charge a 510Ah 24v battery system with a 40Amp (hopefully MPPT) charge controller.

        That CC has a max DC voltage input of 150v so you can only have 2 of those panels wired in series. Then you would wire both sets of 2 in parallel so that you have all 4 panels wired to the CC.

        The CC will uses the Vmp of those panels to charge the 24volt battery and convert all 1000 watts to about 40 amps of charging (1000w / 24v = 41amps) which is about a C/12 rate (510Ah / 40a = 12.8 ) for that 510Ah battery system.

        All is good since you only plan on using about 17% (2100watt hours) per day of the battery system capability.
