What style of Tracker is this?

Do the math on how much that would cost as well. 204 panels times five buildings, add the tracking systems. oof! that's a lot of dough! -
I found the single home as well as the group of 5 using google earth. Why someone would use that type of tracking system built over a house is a big question for me but at least two people thought not.Leave a comment:

I apologize for this post and all the silliness it inspired. I will be waiting for my punishment behind the woodshed.Leave a comment:

Why impractical? Just curious what makes you think that.
I think it takes up less room with the house underneath. I would think it would keep the house cooler in the summer?Leave a comment:

Impractical. Should be on the ground.Leave a comment:

You could say this is a ground mount that's large enough you can fit a building under it.
With the group of 5 buildings/arrays it must be a solar farm selling the power to the grid... Maybe with the long hours of summer this comes up better for pricing for power sold to the POCO(s)Leave a comment:

The satellite imagery is from 2005 before they were built. I also found them on street view. Crazy array design.Leave a comment:

To answer the question in the subject line - this is a big tilted single axis tracker. Possibly the tilt aligns with the earth axis (poles) in which case it's a "Polar aligned single axis tracker"
One of the google street-view you can see the 3 spots it's attached to the roof - middle and endpoints of the roof ridge.
My other question is that single house had quite a bit of land around it so why would they build the array on the house instead of a ground mount?Leave a comment:

I figured Higher-Ground Farm was really, really, pulling our leg. Usually I check the calendar for April 1 when I see someone sticking to their guns....
Unbelievable.
Maybe they are COMBO PV + Wind units and twirl while catching the solar.Leave a comment:
