    What is a good inverter

    Hi All,

    Ive been looking on ebay for a inverter and is there a way on finding out what is a good or bad inverter, ive seen quite a few but as im very new to this how do i tell if its a cheap or high quality one, is there anything i need to look out for ?

    for example i have seen:

    Pro Combi S Pure Sine Wave inverter/charger 12v 2500w

    3KW Pure Sine Wave Inverter CPU Control 120V DC-240vAC

    ECO POWER 6000 WATT PEAK PURE SINE WAVE INVERTER

        What output does it give 240 or 110 and is it 60 hrtz or 50hrtz

          I'll warn you all about cheap import crapolla being sold on flea bay. It's nearly never certified by anyone that counts (UL, CSA, CIA, FBI, NASA, KGB) and it's seldom state of the art.

          Rule of thumb is "Increase battery voltage for every 1,000w consumed" So a 12V bank is good for up to 1,000 watts, 1200 watts needs a 24V bank, and 4,000w needs a 48V bank. Sure, you can buy a 3,000 w inverter for 12V , but to supply that, your battery, cables and components in the inverter need to safely manage 250A. At 48V, it's only 62A. Much lighter wires, no melted battery posts, and batteries are not strained beyone their regular design limits.
