I need to mount single 100W Renogy panel to my shed's shingles roof. In theory shouldn't be hard, I was thinking of screwing in 4 L-brackets to the roof (calking around screw holes) and attaching panel so there's an inch gap between it and roof. This should work right? I've seen a video showing how to mount panel on 2 aluminum L-channels but I'm thinking L-brackets will give it more ventilation.

6 inches is the normally recommended offset.
The general wisdom is a minimum of 4", more if you can do it, while beyond 6" you are getting into diminishing returns and mechanical problems.
Clearance is also important for the temperature rating of wires that you run in conduit on top of the roof. That part is in the NEC, the panel height is just a design issue.SunnyBoy 3000 US, 18 BP Solar 175B panels.Comment

I see thank you for the information!
I realized that L-bracket will not work, due to mounting holes being on the bottom of the frame, so I ordered a Renogy's z-brackets. From the reviews they fit this panel like a glove, only problem is gap is too low, I'll need to figure out how to raise it...Comment
