Hey Solarites, I'm finalizing the design on my system, and I have a question. I Will be using a shunt and a WhizBang Jr. Do I put the shunt on the Line (battery) side of the main battery switch of Load side? The purpose of shutting off the battery bank is to totally isolate it for service. I can see benefits of each.
Shunt before or after the cutoff switch?

Are you considering installing a disconnect switch on both the positive and negative sides of your battery bank?Paul -
Right you are. I didn't realize that they went on the neg side (I don't have the hardware yet). I'm used to using them on machinery to monitor motor current, and we put them on the Positive output of the controller.
Only putting a switch on Pos.

The shunt will have both definitive load and battery sides as well. Keep that in mind when connecting it.
It's better to ask the question first, rather than to possibly do damage to your system later, and then ask.PaulComment
