    Difference between On-grid & Off-Grid

Hi, what is the difference about the on-grid & off-grid solar power system. And which is best for homes?

Mod note - Forget the links - if you are trying to advertise solar panels I would hope you already have an idea about your question.

Off grid uses PV to charge batteries and an inverter to produce AC from the batteries when you need it
On-grid uses PV through a Grid Tie Inverter (GTI) to feed AC power directly to your loads, supplementing whatever grid power may be needed, and potentially sells power back to the power company (POCO) when you produce more than you use.
Essentially you use POCO as a low cost or free zero-maintenance battery.
If you have grid power available, only grid-tied PV makes economic sense currently. Even on a residential scale.
