  • Charge controller for non standerd voltage NIFE battry bank

can I use a charge controller IC ment for use with nicads on a small nife battery bank?

I want to use a charge controller to minimize the water loss as I will be away from time to time

A charge controller should always be used, you need to find one that can be programmed. I've had luck with my morningstar MPPT 60, and I know the MS sw has options for programming several of the controllers they sell.

that controler is a bit over sized for the steel cases nife battery, the battery has 2 cells and is probly only about 10AH @ 2.4v and upto 70 year old but maby just 50 yeard old.

so I will have to build a controler if I cant find one.

I just tested the nh10a nife battery and it still had a small charge from last night so it might come back to life with the new electrolyte.
I dont think oil would be a good idea as it will get on the plates when moved?
