Hydrometer vs multi-meter

I need to purchase four 6 volts. I ask the seller if the batteries were fully charged, topped off? He said yes, according to his multi-meter, 6.3 +\- volts. When I tested them with my hydrometer all 12 cells were reading between 1200 to 1175, low. I have a Go Solar 2000 with two panels on my trailer and a Honda 2000 for backup. These batteries were Duracell’s. I started out looking for Trojan T-105s. I’m new to this forum, thank you for taking your time to help! DZee

I would trust hydrometer readings over voltmeter readings.
