    increasing battery storage

I am looking to replace my current single string of 8 - 6v batteries with two strings of 8.
    my full system is
9-suntech 175 watt modules and 9 up solar 185watt panels in strings of 3,
    8- Deka 6V for 48v. system
    outback VFX 3648 inverter,
    outback FM-60 charge controller.
    Propane 15KW Genset
System Installed August 2009...Hence the need for new batteries

I am looking to go to 16 Trojan L16H's

    two questions
    1. my understranding is they should be wired as two strings of 8 in series connect the positives of the two strings and the negative of the two strings then pull the + and the negative off to the charge controller.... correct??

    2. given my system is there anything else I need to consider or change??

is this new battery bank larger than your old one ? If so, does your solar have the capability to recharge it at 10% of the ah rating of the bank
( 800ah bank needs 80a of charge current)
if not, you will need to add more charging, either more solar or generator

    9x 175w
    9x 185w
I come up with less than 60A which gives you only marginal recharging.

      Thank you Mike.
Yes currently only one string of 370ah batteries looking to move to two 430ah.
There is a Generator inplace but the point was to lessen the usage of it not set us up for more.
