GEL with no limit chargecurrent voltage???

Ive never seen specs like the attached GEL specs. Unfortunately I dont have lifecycle chart. Marketed as KiJo Battery.

    questions:
Is it not unusual for "standbyUse" to have a NO limit on chargecurrent Voltage" for a GEL??

Also for a gel rather unusual CycleUse charge algorithm. It is about the same as for a non-gel or not ????

Specs or advertisement can write anything under "applications", do you think this battery is suitable for pv offgrid application as I always read here "forget gel for pv offgrid"

I read 30A charge limit. for my peace of mind, I'd stick with a major mfg of AGM.

A guy asked if it wise to buy this gel battery as he intend to setup a small sistem.

Perhaps wise that he also evaluates true deep cycle FLA batteries which for sure will give him more cycles @ 50% DoD

AGM has shorter life and higher cost than flooded. I like to see new users start with flooded, and after they get flooded working reliably for 3 years and debugged, then switch to AGM

but throwing out system specs piecemeal, and getting pieces evaluated without the whole, is not going to work.

Switch to AGM while AGM is more expensive and less cycles? Sorry Mike, i can't follow you.

Sometimes folks get a bug in their pants and just have to have AGM batteries. I'm suggesting instead of starting with AGM and ruining then in a month, start with forgiving flooded batteries and then - if needed, switch to AGM and you have a fair chance of them lasting 4 years.

Besides being able to mount the AGM batteries on their side they also allow you to charge them faster then an FLA type.

The problem is that they cost much more then a similar system of FLA batteries and may not even last as long. So AGM is not something you start out with or IMO go to.

Mike, if I understood well you advise starters to start with (cheaper) FLA and if they already have some experience and want for some reasons more expensive AGM's they will treat their batterybank more gentle. 👍

Suneagle, if i see the specs of for example Rolls AGM 1250 cycles @ 50% DoD comparing to CS 11P 3200 cycles @ 50% DoD 😇 it is abvious that FLA is the PV winner 😊

                Thanks for all above replies.

                  Bogus specs.

First indication: "Motorcycle Fit". Yeah, you don't use "deep cycle gel" for that application in the first place. Not only that, but the internal resistance of a "conventional agm", which this appears to be is way higher than it should be for a starting application. This is why REAL motorcycle starter batteries are more costly than these little generic bricks.

Too many red flags. Tell your friend not to be so cheap, or he'll end up paying for things TWICE or more with replacements for the real stuff.
