I installed a 48v system grid intertie system with 4 - Surrette 105 Ah batteries a couple years ago. No problems for a while. I went to look at them and they were disconnected (no reason why, new house owner). Problem is, they were disconnected for about 18 months. I can easily get them up to 14v but the acid is showing bordering the red. I don't do much battery work so I'm hoping you guys would have a good idea what I have to do to get them going properly again.
A mistake was made.

Sad to say but 18 months for even the Surrette batteries left sitting without any attention has probably made them useless.
I would say to try contacting Surrette to see if there is any way to bring them back to even a half life but more than likely even after hitting them with an EQ charge will probably not get rid of all the sulfate on the plates. -
I have been using a Rene charger which is a 400v short duration pulse and is supposed to be able to desulfate the batteries more effectively but it may take a lot of time to do it, if at all.Comment

You are the proud new owner of 4 Boat Anchors.
Let me guess, you connect them to the charger, and shortly there after the charger says the are charged up right? Wrong they are boat anchors. Once the sulfate crystals hardened, there is no removing them. They are toast.Last edited by Sunking; 12-08-2016, 02:39 PM.MSEE, PEComment
