40 amp battery charger and 40 amp charge controller. Is a diode required?

I have purchased a 40 amp x 24 VDC battery charger and a Tracer 4215BN Charge Controller (40 amp maximum and 150 VDC maximum). Should I isolate the two systems somehow (via a diode or a disconnect or other), or can I run my battery charger simultaneous with my PV and Charge Controller also operating?

You should be able to run them both at the same time. All I can see possibly happening is the CC will prematurely go into absorption or float mode while the charger is running but that shouldn't hurt anything as long as the battery bank is large enough to handle the combined amperage.
