Why are 2 Volt Cells are preferred over 12v or 12v Batteries when configuring a large battery bank?

What are the benefits of 2v Cells?

They come in very large Amp Hour capacities and can be configured in series to make 12,24,48,60V banks easily without having parallel strings.

Because a 2 volt 4000 AH cell weighs 900 pounds.. There is a direct physical relationship between weight and energy capacity. You are not going to pull a 18 wheel tractor trailer with a motorcycle.
