  • How to wire 6x12v batteries in series parallel

I just need a diagram if possible on how to wire 6 12v batteries in series parallel to 24v system with minimal voltage drop.
    Thanks again. LATE.

i don't have a way to sketch it, but you will end up with 3 parallel strings which is tough to get equal loading of all batteries. 2 strings is much easier.

If you have not yet bought batteries, consider using four 6v batteries in series for 24V Simplest is golf cart batteries, cheap. 3-5 year life, and you get 24v 200ah. If you need more, parallel a 2nd series string and you get 400ah. Need More ? go with larger batteries, floor scrubber is another, cheap common 6V 400ah battery, and you can get that in one series string

Some of my lessons learned from my first wiring I did for batteries was keeping the cables short as possible I found that the 2/0 welding wire bent better then the THHN 2/0. One thing I wished I’d done is look at using 90 degree terminals instead of standard terminals. Some of the connections could have been 4 inches of 2/0 wire instead of the 12” of cable it took to go the same distance.

For my configuration I used 5 feet of 2/0 wire for 2 series 2 Parallel four six volt batteries to 12 Volts total. It’s the 400 ah configuration with golf cart batteries talked about above. I think with those 90 degree terminals it would have cut the wire distance to a total of two or three feet.

I found it amazing how much voltage loss there is in low voltage higher amperage DC.
