I have 2 Golf cart 6V batteries in 1/4" plywood box outside by pond connected to solar panels for my pond aerator. I don't plan on running aerator in Winter. (Northeast Ohio) If I just leave batteries connected to Charge controller only., would they make it ok through winter, or should I pull the batteries and put them in my shed...but my shed is unheated also. I have no garage or basement in house and would prefer to keep them out of my house...but if I have to I will....Any thoughts on best way to store?

Storing Batteries for Winter

How long is the winter they will be stored, 3 months, 5 months ? Batteries loose a bit of charge monthly, cold weather can slow that down some. Every month, they should be charged up. If you are gone for the winter, they would still need charging every 3 months, or you risk sulfating them.Powerfab top of pole PV mount (2) | Listeroid 6/1 w/st5 gen head | XW6048 inverter/chgr | Iota 48V/15A charger | Morningstar 60A MPPT | 48V, 800A NiFe Battery (in series)| 15, Evergreen 205w "12V" PV array on pole | Midnight ePanel | Grundfos 10 SO5-9 with 3 wire Franklin Electric motor (1/2hp 240V 1ph ) on a timer for 3 hr noontime run - Runs off PV ||
