  • Six 6v 230ah batteries.

    I am planning on using a 1200 watt samlex evo inverter as a ups with four 6v batteries in series for 24volts. My question if I wanted to use 6 batteries how do I set them up and maintain the 24v. Series and parallel? For longevity is it better to stay with just 4 batteries or will 6 be ok as well.? Thank you

    Sorry no way to use 6 x 6-volt batteries to make 24 volts. They would have to be 6 x 4-volt batteries. Only configuration you can make with 6 x 6-volt batteries is:

    6P = 6 volts @ 1380 AH
    2S3P = 12 volts @ 690 AH
    6S = 36 volts @ 230 AH (only reasonable configuration for 6 x 6-volt) They do make 36 volt Inverters, but they are special order and expensive. If you play golf and have an older cart with tired and weak 36 volt battery, you have new batteries.

    If you need more capacity than 230 AH at 24 volts, use larger 6-volt batteries or move up to 48 volts which would require 8 x 6-volt batteries.
