    which batteries for a small offgrid shack

    So i am located in the north east high country of victoria north facing but in a valley.
    australia
    I currently get about 9 am to 3 pm sunlight with some shading during those hrs.
    I am running
    Victron Easy Solar 48/3000 with monitoring screen
    REC 270w Panels 9 off

    8
    Vision 6FM90 12V 90Amp
    in two strings of 4 each

    This is for a bush shack with 8 downlights @ 10 watt plus needs to charge computer phone and tool batteries
    also currently running a waeco 110 but will possibly looking to upgrade to a electrolux fridge freezer.
    At this stage only using it a week at a time but that may increase

    The batteries were given to me and even though they are not the best battery for the job they have done well so far.
    The problem being is that so far i have had 2 fail
    originally i had 8 so currently i am down to running one string which is not enough

    The dilemma i have is if i start replacing batteries they seem to be about 350 a pop to get 12 volt 100 amp hr batteries and with two already gone who knows what life is left in the others??

    Buying two brand new ones also sets me into 100 amp hr batteries ongoing

    I was thinking it may be better to bite the bullet and get some trojan t105 6 volt 225 amp hrs and run 8 in one string ?
    But really open to suggestions one thing i do know is that i would prefer to oversize......

    I can use these other batteries as a small dc shed set up

    Am I buying Trojan t105 RE
    225 amp at $2000
    Or

    There are a number of sealed, maintenance free AGM options that you could also consider.

    Ritar AGM RA12-260D 12v, 260ah at C10 deep cycle $560 plus GST
    Ritar AGM RA6-335EV 6v, 335ah at C20 deep cycle $380 plus GST
    Ritar AGM RA6-400EV 6v, 400ah at C20 deep cycle $431 plus GST
    Gst is 10%

    I need your very experienced call here
    Obviously by your previous email your all over it

    Is there advantages of flooded lead over sealed?

    What do you actually have to do to maintain them
    Just add water ?
    Every 6 months or hrs every month ducking around

    Something like this, I'd say get 6v 200ah Golf cart batteries. Batteries wired in series are more reliable than batteries in parallel. (more even charging)
    Powerfab top of pole PV mount (2) | Listeroid 6/1 w/st5 gen head | XW6048 inverter/chgr | Iota 48V/15A charger | Morningstar 60A MPPT | 48V, 800A NiFe Battery (in series)| 15, Evergreen 205w "12V" PV array on pole | Midnight ePanel | Grundfos 10 SO5-9 with 3 wire Franklin Electric motor (1/2hp 240V 1ph ) on a timer for 3 hr noontime run - Runs off PV ||
    || Midnight Classic 200 | 10, Evergreen 200w in a 160VOC array ||
    || VEC1093 12V Charger | Maha C401 aa/aaa Charger | SureSine | Sunsaver MPPT 15A

        > So the Trojan t105 re at 225 a battery ....

        If it's about the same cost as a golf cart battery, but I think it's quite a bit more. Get the bugs/kinks worked out with cheap batteries, and if you are not living there you don't need the premium battery.

          Trojan t105 are amazing batteries. I ran 4 of them in my RV for 3 years before I sold it. Worth every penny. I had to go out of my way to knock them down. They would sit at 12.2 volts all night and we would watch movies on a 37 inch LCD TV with a 300 watt Doxin inverter. Running the pump for water and running led lighting about 5 amps worth. I charged them back up with 200 Watts in panels during the day. It was a perfect set up for a 37 foot RV.
