[ASK] Charge Controller

Hello, my name is Dede. I'm new here. I designing a utility interactive PV system w/ battery backup. I want to ask about the charge controller for my system. I'm using Xantrex GT90E inverter with DC input range from 300 to 650 V, so that I design my PV array to produce 500 VDC. Does anyone have suggestion, what kind of charge controller I should use ?? Does a single charge controller can handle it ?? or I have to use several controller ??

You not use the solar panels to charge the battery. You will buy a special inverter called a hybrid inverter. That inverter charges the batteries with a built in AC charger. When power goes off, your generator kicks in to supply power. All the batteries are there fore is supply power for th every short amount of time it takes to get the generator running. There is really no point in the batteries other than the one needed to start the generator.

so you mean I should use a hybrid inverter ?? But I do not use any generator ...

I certainly would never use batteries for emergency power. That is a huge waist of resources and money. No I would not use a hybrid inverter. I would just have an electrician install a Automatic Transfer Switch and either a LP or diesel generator for emergency power. Lot cheaper and you are not limited to only operating just a fridge and light or two with batteries. Power everything in your house like air conditioning, heat. cooking, just like you would normally go about your normal day. Let you neighbors suffer, no need for you to suffer.
