Help with wiring

Hi, I am just trying to learn solar right now so I'm doing a small project. How would you wire a solar panel to a battery to a flashlight. Would you connect the solar wires to the battery holder where the wires come out? and if you do that would the energy from the solar panel go into the rechargeable battery ,therefore letting the solar energy go into the batteries to be stored and used when necessary? And then would you wire the battery holder wires to the switch which is connected to the LED lights? would that work?

Please read the sticky threads and learn some more about solar and batteries before trying any such experiments.
A normal installation will put a charge controller (CC) between the panels and the battery. The CC will be set specifically to the needs and safety boundaries of whatever batteries it is charging.
If you do not do this, you may end up with dead batteries or a fire, depending on what type they are.
