The link is to PDF book called Handbook of Batteries 3rd edition released in 1995. It is free to download. The 4th addition was released in 2010 but you have to pay some $100 to $400 to get the latest information. To save you a little time looking through the 1454 page book of most interest to most of you is chapter 23 and 24. Here is the link:

One notable omission from the 1995 edition is the more recently popular LiFePO4 battery. (Lithium Iron Phosphate for the non-chemists).

LiFeP04 and PV Lead Acid charging algorithm are covered in great depth of Edition #4.

LiFePO4 isn't really ready for Solar applications as of yet. They are mostly used in Electric Vehicle industry where specific energy density is of most concern. Right now the $/wh cost are just to high to justify, and no commercial charge controllers are available.

Possibly some particularly valuable tips could be extracted and posted without violating the copyright? Or other sources cited?
Since I am not a professional in this field, $100 is a little beyond my budget.

I do that all the time here. For example for FLA batteries you want to charge at no less than C/12, and no more than C/8.

Now with that said you can charge a FLA at a C/2 rate but it requires extremely tight voltage regulation and real time temperature compensation to keep the voltage just below the gassing point. No charge controllers on the market offer that amount of precision. In addition C/2 charge rate is way overkill and extremely expensive. However if off grid with the right generator and charger you can employ the high charge rate to minimize generator run time to 1 hour or less. Those are the secrets I do not share.

The current edition, with updated information and new chemistries like NiFePO4, was never available online (at least not for free.) Sunking provided a download link for an older edition, on the assumption that it was freely and legally available. But that link no longer works.

So I was replying to sinina7's comment that that link was 404 and asking for someone else to provide a copy.

1. What is CA ?? What is the meaning of 1CA, 0.1CA, 10CA ??

2. What is the meaning of the end of the line ??
Is it the point of 100% Discharge ??
for example at 0.1CA the line ends after 10 hours at 11.0[Volt]
