Maybe aim a fuseholder in the right direction and then insert a cartridge instead of a fuse?

My idea depends on how hard you want to work pushing it.
Mount a super small alternator (30-40a) down by the axle and figure out the slowest (easiest) rpm you can turn it with pulleys and belt to keep the battery up.
