  • How to correctly fuse my simple solar set up

Hi, I'm trying to work out how to fuse my solar set up correctly. I'm going to be fitting a 160w solar panel along with a Victron 75/15 MPPT controller all going to a 110 amp leisure battery. I have been advised to fuse between the solar panel and controller, controller and battery. How do I do this, what fuse sizes would I need and which fuse holders would be suitable. I hope all that makes sense. Any help much appreciated.

So, fuses are used to protect the wires.

No need to make wires larger than you need, unless the length is very long.

I'd just posted these resources to look up the wire size you need, and the fuse to protect it.
I don't like the "automotive" ATO & ATC fuses I do like the MAXI fuses, they have better holders that are more resistant to melting

I'd use something like a 20A fuse for the PV panel (and it's wires)
and a 20A fuse for the controller wire, and I'd use at least 8ga wire for the controller to battery. Folks have had issues with voltage drop from controller to battery and undercharging batteries.

And you need a fuse from the battery to your loads.
