If you have a main ground wire that grounds all your 12V DC appliances to your chassis ground and you install a shunt with a battery monitor, you need to reroute this common ground wire so that it passes through the shunt before connecting to the chassis, correct?
It's my understanding that it's necessary to pass the negative side of all components "through" the shunt in order for the battery monitor to get a clear picture of what's really going on.
