Right, seems I just wasted over $300.. Marine battery you say?
This is what I bought; https://www.centurybatteries.com.au/...tery/n70t/info
Thanks for the help mate. Got everything sorted now, but will need to research more on a battery suitable for running a fridge.Leave a comment:

OK, so since the Panel will be powering the fan, while the sun is out, the car battery may be OK, and won't get deeply cycled.
However when you connect a car battery to power a fridge, you will be deeply discharging it, and will in less than 100 cycles/days, see the battery go bad.Leave a comment:

Run it for 8 hours during the day. I'm a truck driver doing night shift, bought a tent so I could save money faster and sleep in it 2 nights a week. It's summer in Australia and is hot in the day.
Also I bought this battery because in 6 months I'll buy a 4wd and caravan, this battery will be powering a fridge.Last edited by Scragins; 02-06-2019, 08:49 PM.Leave a comment:

What is it that you want to do ? Run a fan in the day, or at night ?
125 w panel should be able to harvest enough power for a fan for several hours a night. You would us a 12V deep cycle marine battery, not a car battery.Leave a comment:

Alright after doing a bit of research I can't really find what I'm looking for. I wanted a setup that worked without being connected to a car.
A solar panel connected to a charge controller connected to a deep cycle battery connected to a 22 watt rechargeable fan to use inside a tent while I sleep during the day.
I'm sure it's possible, but all searches lead to car setups. Looks like I'll have to do it that way for now, and seems I have bought all I need, just have to learn how to install it properly.Leave a comment:

What else do I need?
I bought a fan that uses 22 watts. Unsure what setting, I'm guessing low which is what I use.
To power it I bought a 125 watt solar panel sheet, charge controller, and a 102 ah deep cycle battery. I went heavy with the battery as I plan to keep it for a long time and eventually power an Engel fridge.
So what next? How does the battery connect to the fan? I'm totally new to this. Thanks for any help.
