  • How to vent FLA gasses in aluminium storage box on camper?

I have an aluminium storage box that sits on the rear of camper trailer A frame, it houses two AGM 120AH batteries with AC, mppt & inverter etc. It stays dry inside in the rain & so there can't be any venting holes on top. The box measures roughly L-150cm H-60cm W-60cm

I wan't to replace the AGMs with 4X 6V Trojan T105 FLA inside for 12V 450AH. How would I go about venting the hydrogen & corrosive fumes? As I understand the corrosive gasses can harm electronics too.

Can this be done with two side openings using two 14cm PC case fans? If not what other ways to vent?

    thanks

Sounds like you have a plan to vent it, all you need is some louvered vent covers which you can probably find at a home center or boating supply

Place them up high, the louvered vents that is, out of harm's way and create some intake holes in the bottom of the box. Really don't think you need powered fans.

Set up all the passive vent holes and then, spray the inside with asphalt undercoat spray, to seal the aluminum from the fumes. (or Rhino liner or something like that, but not rattle can spray paint)

One thing you can use is Randolph 345 battery box paint, available at Aircraft Spruce, Sky Geek and others. It's made for battery boxes, less than $20/quart, acid-proof and seals joints and seams. I've used it for years on aircraft batteries, it holds up well. It goes on like thin tar, and dries glossy and pliable but not sticky.
