Perhaps a sticky note and tip material here. As a ham radio operator I learned long ago about the evils of RTV Sealants and Glues. There Good and Evil RTV Sealants believe it or not. As a radio operator we build gadgets and gizmos, and then stuff them in hobby boxes. Things like Antenna Baluns, pre-amps, and and various is electronic circuits.seal in a box and made water tight with RTV.
RTV is good stuff to use on RV's to waterproof cable entries, as glue, or whatever. But what we learned as ham radio operators, use the Evil RTV and a week or two later your gizmo fails from corrosion, the exact thing you are trying to prevent keeping moisture and contaminants out. Well th eEvil RTV uses Acetoxy curing agent which emits Acetic Acid fumes and gives off that Vinegar smell your nose picks up.
Good RTV Sealants use Neutral Curing Agents safe for electronics and metals. Best place to find the good stuff is automotive stores. Brands like Permatex Black 82180
