Hi and thanks upfront im a total newbie. My panels formerly on the house are Vmp 35.2v Imp 4.69a Voc 44.0v, using one panel what controller would be recommended to charge a single or dual 12v 100ah battery generator ? We want power for lights, charging and music wile camping. Possible a 12 cooler ect.

That's a nominal 24V solar panel, about 165W, so to charge a 12V battery you need an MPPT charge controller that can handle the output of the charge controller, 165W / 12V = 13.75A. Round up to a 15A charge controller like the Morningstar SunSaver SS-MPPT-15L. or Outback Smart Harvest SCCM20-100. If you try to use a PWM charge controller, you will get less than half the power from the panel, MPPT is needed to convert the 24V down to 12V.Solar Queen

just out of curiousity would any MPPT controler work or do I need to be looking at the ones in the $150 + price range? Again thanks for any input.

Be careful. Some of those cheap MPPT CC are really PWM type and just use false advertising.
While you might be trying to save money cheeping out on the CC is the wrong place to cut your spending. That is the heart of your system and will help you get the most out of your panel wattage and safely charge your batteries.Comment

Even worse are the frauds that deliberately degrade the performance slightly (worse than straight PWM) in a way that makes it appear at first glance to be MPPT.
Basically they put in a deliberate voltage drop so that the input voltage is higher than the output voltage but there is no current multiplication.SunnyBoy 3000 US, 18 BP Solar 175B panels.Comment
