I am trying to make heads from tails with my new RV travel trailer. The RV store is telling me all I have to do is install a panel and wire it in to the system. They say the rv has a controller and will run and charge everything. I am a skeptic? It is a 2 - 12 v battery system with standard draw all led, no microwave etc. what do I need and where do u buy it without getting hosed. Thank you in advance.
? For the pros

Either the rv has a solar charge controller, or it doesn't. If you can't find and identify it, your chances of getting hosed go up dramatically.CS6P-260P/SE3000 - http://tiny.cc/ed5ozx -
Have them show you were the charge controller is and it's DC inputs. If they can't do that then I'd have to say it doesn't have one.

That is an inverter and load center, not a solar charge controller.CS6P-260P/SE3000 - http://tiny.cc/ed5ozxComment

That is not a solar charge controller. It is the electrical panel for the trailer. It may have a circuit in there for charging the batteries from the tow vehicle alternator but it does not have a solar charge controller.
You will need a PV Panel, Solar charge controller, Wire and fuses. Hook the panel to the charge controller and then to the battery or positive DC circuit of that electrical panel.

I live in Wyoming so a good on line store is best for me and yes everything I would need to do it rightComment

"solar power your home for dummies pdf free download" assume your camper is your home, you need fuses or solar DC breakers (not automotive breakers)
Our host website suggests starting here http://www.solarreviews.com/solar-co...anies-wyoming/
Generally, each install is "So Different" that there is no standard approach to doing this.
One person might suggest large batteries and a portable generator to charge them daily.
or spend 5x what a generator & charger cost and buy PV panels, racks, wires and charge controller.
You have to either measure or calculate or guess what your loads will be, and size the batteries & panels accordingly.

That is an AC to DC converter and combined load center. For selecting a reliable inverter, the Xantrex freedom 458 and SW's are pretty common for RV's. Some of the Xantrex have dual in and dual out features which come in handy when using a generator. http://www.xantrex.com/ Charge controllers vary, I like the Midnite Solar Kidd. http://www.midnitesolar.com/products...tName=SoftwareComment
