MC4 convert to 6-8awg panel wiring possible ?

Been doing plenty of reading and getting ready to buy components for my RV install which basically are: Single large panel @250-300w, Blue Sky MPPT 3000i, Trojan bank @250Ah.

With regards to wiring the total length from panels to batteries could be 12-25' depending on routing. I would like to overengineer the wiring and having looked at the 3% drop rule I plan on using 4awg from the controller to the batteries.

I am new to the MC4 standard, will the panels simply accept 6awg (doesn't seem like this is possible) or do I have to convert from MC4 to the new gauge in a box ?

    thanks,

    Dave

Hello Teocalli and welcome to Solar Panel Talk

My suggestion would be to use a termination box close to the panel to convert from the ~#10 awg wire usually used with an MC4 connector to a larger wire. Trying to put an MC4 on a large awg gauge wire might not work well without the proper crimping tool.
