Thank you. That is what I just found out. I can get the 1.75 watt Evergreen cells for about $1.84 per cell or less. The higher wattage (hence more efficient cells) are running $8 to $9 per cell and are not cost effective. Two 72 cell watt panels generating 1.75 watts per cell would be far less expensive than the a single higher rated cell panel.

    Thanks again.

    Um yes.

What you are trying to ask, I think, is: Are there more efficient panels that will give higher wattage per sq foot?

A "cell" is a chip that can produce power, typically, .5V Wattage depends on size of cell, and it's conversion efficiency... there are companies that make higher efficiency, but unless you have limited roof space, the extra cost is way beyond reasonable.

    Hope this helps some.

    Solar cell options

I've decided I am going to buils a couple of panels for off-grid use with a battery array. I see on Ebay I can get Evergreen solar cells rates at 1.75 watts per cell. A 72 cell array would give me 123 watts at 36 volts wired in series.

Are there higher rated calls that could could give me a larger wattage for the same total cells in the array? If so, where.

    Thanks, Good forum.
