JMON, hi, am new here as well because i needed to encapsulate some cells, i went with the sylgard and am very happy for it. did experiment with some others, over here in AU most of the names you mention are ungetable anyway apart from importing like the sylgard, cheaper on ebay for me than buying from a local distributor.

like the finish of it, love the 4 to 6 hours i have to get bubbles out and when set it still feels like kinda rubbery, so the cells should be able to move a little if they expand/contract in the heat/cold, would like to see some test results if you try other things though

          Encapsulation of solar cells

I see that the cells are normally sandwiched between EVA and then some backing is put on. If the backing is Tedlar does it get melted over the whole stack and over the edge of the glass? Am thinking that the Tedlar is used to seal the EVA from possible moisture vapor. Is that correct? And if two pieces of glass are used would Aclar be better in sealing the glass side openings than Tedlar. Does anyone know if this Aclar melts on as well? Was wondering what the best way to keep the two glass pieces from shifting in position breaking the seal. Anyone out there know the answers?
