Starting Solar panel Project and need some advice.

Hey I'm new to the forums. And I assume I will become a frequent visitor. I'm 21 years old and supporting my family on $23 an hour. I received my first ever power bill since my parents passed and have realized that creating my own electricity is something I could really benefit from.

So I've been looking around for some guides, and I have found small pieces of information scattered around the internet, but can't find it all in one place so I don't really know where to go. I'll be using this website for all the specifics I need, but don't want to hound anyone for a full instruction manual!! Back to the main point, I've found this website .easyenergyearnings.. and listened to the long video. The guy says it's a highly detailed but easy to read ebook from start to finish and where to find all the equipment required. He stated you can build self sustaining solar panels for under $500.. which from research is pretty decent. Pretty sure theres a money back guarantee.

Anyway, I was wondering if anyone has used his guide before, and whether it would be worth purchasing. I do not have the mind for this, but you guys do so let me know if I will get roughted!

    Cheers. SS

Your best payback would come from conservation first.

      Better get your money back.

That $500 should build one panel, that will last 1, maybe 2 years. You can BUY the same size panel, with a 20+ year warranty, for about $400.

The DIY panels cannot be legally connected to a inhabited house in the USA. (they are not UL certified, and tend to burn up)
You could pole mount them in the yard, and charge 1 battery per panel with them. But 1 battery will not do much for powernig anything in the house, just a couple lights, and not much at all in the winter with short days and long dark nights.

The least I can imaginane someone running an efficient house in a mild climate with lots of year round sun, would be 2,000 w worth of panels, and even that would be tough.
