Sunforce 30A Charge Controller - Operation Question

I have built my first DIY panel. I used 3x6 cells and for now put them in an old window frame I had lying around. Its in no way meant to be weather proof as I will be using it for charging my camper batteries while on the beach. My question is about the Sunforce controller. Its a 30A, non digital version. It seems to work but I am not sure if the lights are supposed to be on all the time? The top light with the circle around it is always on Yellow. When I hit the reset button it lights up red, then goes back yellow. I have yet to see any of the other lights work like the manual says they do. Do I have a defective controller or is this just the way they work? Can someone give me a brief description of how theirs works? Thanks..

I can't quite read what the labels are for the 6 LED's. But a single yellow light is not good. Generally, a charged battery should give a green light.

When you hold the reset button down it gives the batter charge condition. Right now they show fully charged. the manual says Red means its workin. Says nothing about yellow or if its only supposed to be red when you hold the reset button.

If battery is fully charged, the controller will go into an idle or float mode.

right, but all I ever get is that yellow light always on unless I hold the reset button. Then the bottom lights indicate charge condition, then it goes back to just the yellow light at the top. None of the other lights light up at any time that I have seen. I am about to just return it and try another one. Its from Ebay. Sunforce tech support phone always just gets voicemail.
