I am also interested, can we use Sylgard 184 on top of panels ?
If no Sylgard then what would protect cells (rain, hail) and also be transparent ??

    Thanks,
    Arthur.

The way I use sylgard is put the solar cells on the glass upside down and with silicone make a border around the outer edge of all cell so sylgard doesn't run off. then mix sylgard up and pore it on the back of the cells. I use a brush to help the sylgard move around. There are some people that cover all the spaces on the panel with tape then make it so sylgard does not run off then pore the sylgard on the back and let it cure.

Thank you for your answer. So it is no good way to put Sylgard on front. Just juse it as back of the panel.

        How much 0.5kg Sylgards I will need to cover 110cm x 110cm area ???
(I want that sylgard laywe would be not so thin, sth around 5mm)

        Thanks DeltaFox

            Area to cover : 110cm x 110cm = 43,3 inch x 43,3 inch

Expected Sylgard layer minimum height : 5mm = 0,078 inch

            0,5 kg = 1lb (standard Syglard 184 size, in price ~$50)

The price is to exspensive off of ebay.
I think the people that are selling it off of ebay bought it for a much lesser price and are selling it and making14.00 $ .

The panel of 36 cells is alittle smaller then what your size is . I'll surch around and get the size the I have been useing.

the panel size that I have been useing is : 22 1/4 x 45 3/4 I am making some 6x6's and useing a frame that is 39x39" and I'm going to use two sylgards.

Yes, my size is a little bit bigger becasuse I get 1,96 inch safety border around all panel.

So as I see, I have to use two Sylgard184 too.

Can you send a link where you bought your 6'x6'cells (wafers) ? Are those monocrystalls ? What whas the pirce for a single wafer ?

                Thanks

I bought my 6'x6" cells off of ebay.$120.00 . the seller was fred48v
I think it comes out to be $3.33 for each cell.
I was trying to leave one inch more at the top and one inch more at the bottom. I did the same for the sides.
$135.99 that is with tax also.
I see where there is a place on ebay where they are selling just 10 at a time. This is incase some one needs just 10 to make up forthe cracked ones that might of been when you received them.

I could not locate 'fred48v' at eBay. If you will find him, please post a link. And please post a link to other cells if you will find them interesting.
As I know monocrystalls are the best .

I also have some troubles to buy Sylgard 184 at http://spsx.com/ . They want minimum order $250, they are very surprise that I am an international buyer (Poland), I see transaction at my credit card billing but they said that I can't pay using card . I don't know what is their problem, they are not flexible, am I some kind of stranger or something ?

Do you know if I can put here photos of my panel ? I also would like to share knowledge and photos with others.

Do you have your photos somewhere on the net ?

                    Many thanks

absolutely! you can make a thread and post pictures here on the forum. when you are creating the new thread....click on the "manage attachments" button and upload the photos from your computer.

another option is when you are signed into solar panel talk...click on the "user cp" button up at the type, right under the "solarpaneltalk" logo. then click on the "picture/albums" link on the left. and you can create a photo album on your profile.

if you need any help, just let me know.

I'm sorry to here about the epsx people not excepting your card. I don't know what to say about that.
I'll look around for the 6x6 link.

                              Dear friends,

I just created my first album with my first panel : http://www.solarpaneltalk.com/album.php?albumid=19 .

When I finish this one I will start to build next (with Sylgard184 as a backing).
