A friend asked me if he could wire in series a 12v 100w panel to a 24v 300 panel .so to all the experienced people here I ask is it possible and would it the same as wiring a same volt panel?

In series, the voltage difference doesn't matter, they all add up. Whatever controller the series string is wired into would need to be compatible with the higher voltage. For those particular panels, the problem is that they don't produce the same current, so the string won't produce as much as they would each make individually.CS6P-260P/SE3000 - http://tiny.cc/ed5ozx -
Unfortunately the "12v" panel could drop the voltage of the 24v panel and not be totally added..

in Series, Voltage adds, and amps should be within 10% of each other (amps are limited by the lowest amp panel)
in Parallel, amps add , and voltage should be within 10% of each other. Great info he has a ul rated grid tie inverter with mppt. he has 12v 2000 watt hooked in series then he has 24v 1200w hooked to an eBay grid tie inverter.I believe his ul rated inverter is 8000w .Comment

What is the make and model of the UL rated and eBay "grid tie" inverter? Be careful that some of that equipment are not truly UL Listed and can't be legally used in the US.Originally posted by Driver607 View PostComment
