new to solar panels and I'm having trouble with my kit I just bought

I just bought a solar panel kit and am trying to put it together today but it came with scanty instructions. I don't know a lot about home improvement and tools and so I have to learn as I go. I have a 12 volt battery, an inverter, the red and black cables that go with it that have the alligator clips, a voltmeter, and the solar panel kit I bought off amazon (comes with charge controller). This is what I bought:

I'm disappointed today because I thought I had done enough reading to know what I needed to buy. But now I realize I have no idea how to connect the solar panels and the battery to the charge controller. Here is a photobucket picture album that shows what I've bought so far:

I know cables from the solar panel that have the wires sticking out of them are supposed to go into the holes on the bottom of the charge controller but I don't know how to do that, how to make them stick in.

I also don't know what I'm supposed to buy in order to connect the battery to the charge controller. I just realized I need something like this:

    http://www.amazon.com/Copper-Cable-C...ef=pd_sim_lg_5

Would you recommend that I buy that cable for the battery I have? It's a 35 AH, 12 volt, deep cycle battery by Thunderbolt Magnum Solar.

Thanks a lot for any help.
