Someone predicts every earthquake - unfortunately those type simply predict one most every day so their accuracy record is quite poor.

The building codes here are quite strict here nowdays - my home has more steel and concrete in it than many industrial structures I have built - just to meet code.

The problems come in with the ancesteral homes in the villages where no steel was used and little if any cement - mud and stone. The other problem is that in years past shyster contractors used poor quality materials.

The good news for the folks in the area is that the after shocks are slowing down - only 3 in the past 6 hours.

I felt our earth is not so stable these few years.

There has been alot more earthquakes lately. Here in the bay area we have experienced 2 earth quakes in under 45 days both under a 4.0 magnitude. When we felt the one a month ago Japan had a quake, now the one that was felt this Saturday was also felt in turkey.
Something tells me there is massive shifting of tectonic plates. Something big is going to happen! Good to know your ok Russ, don't know how I would deal without your dry sarcasm. Be safe the building codes out there suck.

Heard on the news of a large Earthquake in Turkey. You OK?

Yes - Thank you! The earthquake was about 1,000 miles east of us in Van. Last night it got down to freezing there so people are having a good time when they try to stay out of buildings as the aftershocks continue.

So far 24 aftershocks with a 6.0 about 0100 hours today. Believe all 24 aftershocks were above 4.0 with several above 5.0. Things are still rocking and rolling in Van!
