Thanks for the advice Mike, at the moment it is on my garage flat roof, luckily this is made of very substantial materials, but will be adding bracing for the future projects as I intend to put the solar panels up there as well, how do I put photo,s on the site as this would give people a better idea of what I am up to, regards Nigel

has also amused the nieghbours seeing it spinning away on the top of my garage, one of them even uses it as a wind gauge to see what the weather is like, (just providing a public service)

Good for you ! But, just a bit of caution - the vibration from this generator, may slowly, over years, lossen your building frame a bit.

Hi there, just a quick intro, have just registered onto the forum as I have an interest in all aspects of green tchnology and recycling, currently building some solar panels from discarded solar garden lampsand as this is my first shot

I am trawling the internet for information, you tube has been very helpfull, also building a VAWT wind turbine, using the drum from an old Zannussi washing machine as rough prototype and the findings have been very encouraging, has also amused the nieghbours seeing it spinning away on the top of my garage, one of them even uses it as a wind gauge to see what the weather is like, (just providing a public service) this has also led to me learning a lot more about building alternators and also the associated electrics that go with home power generation,

another project is (draw breath) solar water heating, have come up with an idea to have a system that goes inside the loft between the rafters, this should be a very economical method as the system is designed to be modular and can be added onto as funds allow thus providing more heat and greater savings as the system grows, also has the benefit of insulating the loft, also making an electric bicycle using a stannah stairlift motor and an old mountain bike, initially will be using nicad batteries out of old power tool packs as have found a way of rejuvenating them if anyone is interested, will eventually be putting all my projects onto you tube to share with everyone, if there is anyone in the Wootton Bassett area wiltshire UK, who would like a chat please get in touch, that,s about all for now regards Nigel aka Doc Cox
