Can a normal Split Air-Con be converted to Inverter Air-Con ?

Never figured that out, if you loose/find a wallet with CC, it's most likely still got the DL with your zip on it.

DOH! You're right. I didn't think of that. In my case, my zip is not in my wallet because my PO Box has a much different zip than my street address, and my DMV insists on using my street address.

But for most people, that wouldn't be the case. I don't travel in the credit card fraud circles - so I don't know exactly what kind of fraud the zip check is supposed to catch - maybe selling cards without a wallet attached?

At least a lot of gas station POS terminals ask for your zip code these days. One small step.

The credit card in most of the world requires a PIN to verify validity - hardly fool proof but better than nothing.

Banks in general will refund you your money that was fraudulently removed from your card account or run up on your credit card as long as reported ASAP .. But have never heard of a bank refunding money from a cheque that was fraudulently presented ..Mabe some do I just have never heard of it.

Safer than using plastic? Hardly but then the US (MC & Visa) is/are still fighting any security on the cards.

Maybe they feel the paper the check is made out for isn't really worth what is written on it.

I use to know some people that only purchased using cash. They even balked at money orders because they didn't want the bank to know what they were buying. Those actions are somewhat paranoid in my book.

Just sign a few and send them along - I will see how they work. Actually not here - in Turkey a personal check from the US is like thingys on a boar hog - there is a slight disconnect between the banking systems.
